My name is Louise Bach-Holler, I was born and raised in Denmark.
In 2018 I moved to Catalonia, Spain with my husband, five horses and two cats.
We live on a farm about 100 km north of Barcelona in a natural park called Les Guilleries.
Our farm is called Masia Fogueres and it is a magical place, very far away from everything, up on a mountain in the middle of nature with stunning views and a very peaceful atmosphere.
The house is an old ruin that we are restoring and we live a simple life with a fire stove for heating, solar panels for electricity, rainwater collecting, dry toilets, we have chickens and we grow our own vegetables in the warm season.
We currently have 4 horses on the farm and they live in a beautiful track system that we have built from scratch on old terraces on a sloping mountain side.
We are constantly developing the track system and the rest of the farm, and we strive to take care of the land and work with nature instead of against it.
Creating and living a life where we are conscious about our impact on the natural world, and being respectful to each other, the animals, the land around us and the planet itself, is the baseline of our work here.
My journey with horses began at age 7 when I started riding at a traditional riding school.
As a late teenager I worked for several different big sales and competition stables, and I even went to America to spend 6 months working at a horse farm.
In my early twenties I began moving away from the traditional horse world as I found it too harsh.
I loved the horses and was craving connection and relationship.
I wished for the horses to want to be with me, and to enjoy the time we spent together.
I began searching new paths and came across natural horsemanship, horse psychology and learning theory, the academic art of riding, clicker training, liberty training, natural hoof care etc.
I certified as a natural hoof care practitioner in 2008, and I attended endless courses and clinics about horse communication, training and riding and studied, read, practiced, experimented and reflected.
Some things stuck with me, other things did not make sense to me, so I moved on.
I developed my own way with horses, I still am.
I get inspired and educate myself, I am constantly learning and expanding my knowledge but I am not part of any particular school or belong to any group or method.
I need the freedom to reflect, question, experiment and find my own way. I follow my heart and my gut feeling, also when everyone around me tells me something different.
I have gained much knowledge and experience with horses and horse care over the years, and I wish to share my knowledge with the world through education and teaching. I strive to do so by inspiring and motivating my students to experiment and reflect and by helping them find their own answers.
I work for better horse welfare and healthier horse-human connections.
